SPOILER ALERT
This article discusses the central mystery, the investigation and the film's conclusion. If you enjoy reading the entire story before watching a
movie, keep going.
The story: Vijay Salgaonkar's final battle
Years after the events of the previous films, Vijay Salgaonkar is still trying to give his family a normal life. But the secret surrounding Sam
Deshmukh's death has never truly disappeared.
Sam had blackmailed Anju after secretly recording her. During the confrontation, Anju accidentally killed him, and Vijay took extraordinary steps to
protect his daughter and conceal the crime. Even after escaping the earlier investigations, the Salgaonkars continue to live with the consequences of
that night.
Business Upturn
The trouble begins again when fresh evidence threatens to reopen the case. Meera Deshmukh, Sam's mother and a former senior police officer, has never
stopped seeking answers. This time, however, the investigation brings a formidable new opponent into Vijay's path: Crime Branch officer SP Rajveer
Singh Tomar, played by Jaideep Ahlawat.
Unlike an ordinary investigator, Tomar is determined to examine the details that earlier investigations failed to resolve. Vijay can no longer depend
simply on the old alibis and carefully constructed timeline. He must confront a new investigation that threatens to destroy the life he has spent
years protecting.
The biggest twist: Vijay versus the system
As the investigation advances, the case against Vijay appears increasingly difficult to escape. The new evidence and investigative pressure threaten
to expose the family's secret at last.
But Vijay's greatest strength has always been his ability to think several steps ahead.
The climax reportedly turns on weaknesses and inconsistencies in the prosecution's evidence and the way it was collected and handled. Rather than
allowing the case to become a straightforward confession-or-conviction story, Vijay challenges the reliability of the evidence against his family.
The reported outcome is that the case collapses because the prosecution cannot establish its case sufficiently, and the Salgaonkars walk free.
Business Upturn
That is the central idea behind the final battle: the police may suspect the truth, but suspicion and proof are not the same thing.
The emotional ending: Is Vijay really the hero?
The most interesting part of the conclusion is not simply whether Vijay wins. It is what his victory means.
Meera has spent years seeking justice for her son. From her perspective, the Salgaonkars' freedom is devastating because she believes the people
responsible have escaped accountability once again.
Vijay, meanwhile, has acted out of love for his family, but that love has required deception, concealment and the manipulation of the investigation.
This creates the franchise's defining moral conflict:
- Vijay protects his family, but the truth remains buried.
- Meera seeks justice, but the legal system does not give her the closure she wants.
- The law reaches an outcome, but that outcome does not necessarily resolve the moral question.
A published ending explanation attributes this closing sentiment to Meera:
> “Wo galat hokar bhi hero hai aur hum sahi hokar bhi villain.”
In English: He is a hero despite being wrong, while we are villains despite being right.
Business Upturn
That line captures why Vijay remains such a compelling character. We understand his desperation to protect his family, yet we cannot ignore the cost
of the deception that protects them.
Does Drishyam: The Conclusion leave room for another film?
The Hindi trilogy is positioned as the end of Vijay Salgaonkar's story. Director Abhishek Pathak has said that the Hindi franchise should conclude
here rather than extend the story unnecessarily. The Malayalam franchise follows a separate narrative direction.
The ending's emotional ambiguity may leave viewers debating whether Vijay's victory represents justice, a failure of justice, or both.
Final verdict for readers
Drishyam: The Conclusion brings the franchise back to its central question: what happens when a man does something wrong for a reason that millions of
people can emotionally understand?
Vijay is not compelling merely because he is clever. He is compelling because every victory carries a moral cost. His family may escape the immediate
consequences, but the shadow of the original crime never fully disappears.
The ultimate takeaway: a person can win a legal battle without resolving the truth, and a family can be protected without being free from the
consequences of its past.
Spoiler accuracy note: The broad plot and reported ending above are based on published descriptions and ending coverage. I could not independently
verify every scene of the climax, so I have not invented a detailed, scene-by-scene account of the final trick.
